Authorities verified the death of a man who died on Tuesday morning due to serious injuries when his car hit a tree and he was trapped inside the vehicle in critical condition. The incident happened Monday night in the neighborhood of Marquette Park.
Medical examiner’s office reported that Walid Abuasba died a day following the accident which took place in 2500 block of West Columbus Avenue, near the intersection of 74th Street and Western Avenue. Police News Affairs Officer Darryl Baety said that the wreck happened at 8:30 that evening
Police News Affairs Officer Daniel O’Brien said that while Abuasba was driving his car, he lost control hitting a tree in the process. Fortunately, he had no passenger.
Abuasba, 49 and residing at 5700 block of Ridgemont Lane in Chicago Ridge, expired at 6:01 a.m. at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Spokesman Larry Langford of Chicago Fire Department said that due to the impact of the crash, the vehicle was divided in two.
Abuasba was rescued by cutting him out of the car and brought to Christ Medical Center. No other casualty was reported.
