WHITEMARSH TWP, Pa. The Pennsylvania Turnpike was the scenario of a two-vehicle crash which injured two people Friday afternoon. Police had to close part of the road following the incident. But it was open after a couple of hours.
The crash is back open after a two-vehicle crash that injured two people and left part of the road shut down.
It was not Friday, the 13th but the accident happened shortly before 2:00 Friday afternoon in the westbound lanes, just before the Fort Washington exit.
State Police reported that one vehicle hit the back of another and the impact caused one of them to overturn. It was not running at fast speed but it just crash on the vehicle in front and the impact caused it to turn over.
A Chopper 6 HD overhead took air view of rescuers as they were trying to extricate a passenger who was trapped inside the truck. There was a man trapped inside the black pick-up truck. Authorities say he was taken to Abington Hospital in an unknown condition.
No word was given about the driver of the other vehicle. It appeared that person was not injured as no other person was taken to the hospital.
One person was also injured in the overturned vehicle and was taken to an area hospital for minor injuries.
The incident caused a traffic jam along one shoulder of the road for sometime but the scene has since been cleared.
No word what sparked the crash.
