JUNIATA – At least one person was hospitalized this morning after being struck by a school bus in Philadelphia’s Juniata Park section. Juniata, also called as Juniata Park is a middle class, predominantly Hispanic neighborhood located in Northeast Philadelphia. This section of the city is prone to traffic as it is near the Juniata Golf Club in Tacony Creek Park
The accident occurred around 11:00 at the intersection of L Street and East Erie Avenue.
Upon receiving the call, medics arrived and immediately transported the male victim to Temple University Hospital as a trauma alert with stable vitals. As of this time, the identity of the victim and his present condition has not been announced to the press.
The driver stopped at the scene to assist his victim; fortunately, no children were on board the bus at the time. Fortunately, no other person was injured.
Authorities are looking into the incident that they would like to know why the driver hit the man in full daylight. They will investigate if he was driving DUI, sleepy, texting or the machine of his bus malfunction.
Witnesses are requested to come forward and contribute what they saw of the accident.
There is no word on if the bus driver will be charged as accident investigators continue to look into incident.
If all drivers need to be careful, a school bus driver must be doubly careful as the lives and safety of school children are on his hands.
