Almost a year ago, a man from Louisiana opted to jump off a bridge to avoid his number 8 arrest on DUI charges; but after he was saved from the cold water of the lake; he ended up in jail.

At about 5:40 o’clock in the afternoon, operatorThomas Robert Harter, age 44 was erratically speeding his car across the Causeway Bridge over at Lake Pontchartrain near New Orleans.

He was stopped by the police but as the officer was about to conduct BAC test, the suspect unexpectedly hopped to the edge of the bridge and jumped off, way down into the 60 degree water.

Crews tossed him a life preserver and towed him to safety.

Harter faced the following charges: DWI, careless driving and resisting arrest. He has also an outstanding warrant for hit-and-run plus reckless driving.
