The multiple fatality car accident which took place at the corner of 31st and Kedzie Avenue got priority in the work of the Chicago police.

Chicago police cited as the source of the traffic crash a Southwest Side man who was held responsible for the death of his four passengers.

One of the two people who survived the crash is Gustavo Pichardo, 20, of the 3600 block of West 61st Street. The police said that the survivor is still recovering at John H. Stroger, Jr., Hospital of Cook County.

 

Police identified Pichardo as the driver. All of the six passengers were thrown out when the car hit a light pole at about 1 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of 31st Street and Kedzie Avenue.

Pichardo, a resident of the 3600 block of West 61st Street, was charged with the following violations: disobeying a red light, DUI drugs, transporting alcohol and failure to reduce speed. However, the police said that he was not charged for the deaths of his other four passengers.

Right at the scene of the crash, two women and a man died while another woman expired after she was taken to Mount Sinai hospital, said the authorities.
