FORT WORTH – Suspected of driving while intoxicated, a 71-year-old woman crossed over her lane and crashed head-on into an off duty Fort Worth City Marshall Officer last Wednesday evening. The good news is that all injuries were non- life-threatening. According to Fort Worth Police Department spokesman Ofc. Daniel Segura, at about 7:20 p.m., the Marshall was traveling westbound in the 9000 block of N. Normandale when a grey four-door vehicle weaved into oncoming traffic and hit him.

The elderly driver was arrested for DWI and taken to the hospital with injuries that are not critical while responders performed field sobriety tests on the driver. Marshall Officer was also transported to the local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Segura said there was no other property damage from the collision and the name of the driver has not been released to the media.

On November 21, 2012, an accident killed one person and injured two others injured along Highway 360 in Grand Prairie. Identified fatality was Lokuekim “Jessy” Kipasa, 18 who was killed when he was ejected from the vehicle in the roll-over crash. It happened near the intersection of Webb Lynn around 3:00 o’clock in the morning of Wednesday.

Police confirmed that two passengers were thrown from the SUV; Kipasa died at the scene, and the other, Donte Pierce, 21, was taken by helicopter to an area hospital.

Police said that the injured driver, identified as Ashlee Straker, 21, survived the crash and managed to walk about a mile to his home. The police picked him up from his home and delivered him to John Peter Smith Hospital for his injuries.

It was a passer-by who saw the debris on the road and called for help. The three were in a Jeep Cherokee and returning from a party when the vehicle veered off the road and rolled multiple times before coming to rest in a field. Investigators say speed and alcohol may have been factors.

It was the 10th traffic fatality in Grand Prairie this year. Car Accident victims may be entitled to financial compensation for pain and suffering in addition to economic damages.
