San Ysidro — Early Thursday morning was ominous to a suspect DUI operator as she suffered critical injuries after driving the wrong-way towards the border of Interstate 5 from Chula Vista to the border where her vehicle was wrecked.

Prior to the mishap, the CHP had already received several calls about a driver entering Interstate 5 near L. Street one hour after midnight who was traveling the wrong way.

When the woman operator reached the San Ysidro Border Crossing, she crashed into a large container at the construction site where she was trapped inside her smashed. It took fire fighters almost an hour to extricate her out of the vehicle. CPH said she was taken to the area hospital suffering life-threatening injuries.
