SANDY SPRINGS, GA –
One person was killed and one other was injured after an early morning crash on GA 400 southbound at Roberts Drive. The Sandy Spring police are now investigating the incident.
One of the people involved in the crash is Be 98.5’s Kelly Stevens from the Vikki and Kelly Show. Stevens was on his way to work when he was crashed head-on by a wrong way driver identified as 22-year-old Carlyn Emily Royball.

Royball, alum of Milton High School and an employee of Taco Machine in Alpharetta, perished in the accident.

Stevens was admitted at Grady Memorial Hospital and told his company-host, Vikki, via phone patch that as he was getting on the left lane, he was greeted with the wrong way driver very fast that he swerved to avoid the car and ended up rolling his vehicle. Stevens added that the whole thing happened very fast and there was nothing he could do.

Stevens sustained a broken arm and leg. Although shaken, he is in stable condition.
Police are investigating whether alcohol had played a factor in the crash.

Georgia’s Department of Transportation said that the area of accident was properly marked and it would be rare to commit such mistake.

Spokesman Mark McKinnon also said that investigators are looking over the signages along GA 400 near Lenox Road wherein a wrong way accident killed two people last week.

He further added that they found that the area was properly marked therefore, there’s no need for changes.
