Another driver died was after crashing his vehicle into a center median on westbound I-290 at Higgins Road. This resulted in heavy four lanes of traffic this morning, according to Illinois State Police Trooper Douglas Yorke.
At about 5:30 a.m., the red Acura speeding west near Schaumburg caused the fiery fatal crash. The car hit a concrete median about 4 feet high and burst into flames. Trooper Yorke said that the driver was trapped inside the car.
The fatality whose age and name were unknown, died at the scene, said Yorke.
Four lanes of the westbound traffic were tied up by the crash. Even at 8:30 a.m. only the far left lane was open to traffic as officials continued their investigation.
