A Fort Worth police officer who crashed his squad car Wednesday morning was rescued by the emergency crew using the Jaws of Life; a special device used to rescue accident victims.
At about 9 o’clock that morning, the officer, whose identity was not revealed, for unknown reason lost control of his sedan in the 4900 block of Randol Mill Road near Oakland Boulevard.
The squad car rolled over, went down a steep embankment and finally struck a utility pole.
By the time help arrived, the officer was still conscious and talking with responders. He was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He complained of pain on his foot and neck.
A spokesman said that the officer was on his way responding to a dispatch call at the time.

Grand Prairie Police said that the SUV flipped several times, ejecting the two passengers as neither of whom was wearing seatbelts.
One of the passengers, identified as 18-year-old Lokuekim “Jessy” Kipasa, died on the spot. The other passenger identified as 21-year-old Donte Pierce, was airlifted by a helicopter ambulance to the hospital sustaining serious injuries.
The operator, identified as 21-year-old Ashlee Straker, literally walked away from the accident. Police found him later at his home, disoriented and injured. He also was taken to the hospital.
Officers considered that the accident was alcohol=related and may have been a factor and are now awaiting toxicology test results.
