EAGLE ROCK, Calif. — The teenager that was injured in the Eagle Rock crash has succumbed to death. Three were originally killed in the incident.
The tragic incident had happened around 11 in the evening along the 1800 block of Colorado Boulevard on Wednesday.
Three were killed after their speeding Nissan crashed into a tree and burst into flames. The victims were 19-year-old Cristyn Cordova, her 16-year-old sister and a 19-year-old family friend. Cordova was 8 months pregnant.
Two other occupants inside the Nissan were hospitalized in a local hospital and in critical condition and on Friday, the brother of the two sisters, 15-year-old Andrew Cordova, died. The remaining victim remains in the hospital and in critical condition.
He was the father of the unborn child Cordova was carrying.
The police believes that the Maxima, a white Mitsubishi and another vehicle was travelling westbound down Colorado Boulevard at a high rate of speed when the driver of the Maxima crashed into a parked car whilst the Maxima crashed into a tree. The third car was reported to have fled the scene.
The 19-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi, Rostislav Shnayder, wa arrested and is booked under the suspicion of murder.
Although investigators said that street racing is not to be blamed, speeding was a major contributory factor in the crash.
