HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES — A high-speed police chase from a suspected DUI driver on Friday ended in a crash in Hollywood.

The pursuit started shortly after 8 in the evening at Burbank. Bothe Burbank police and California Highway Patrol pursued the suspect in the San Fernando Valley.

Initially, the unidentified driver was going within the posted speed limit but approximately 15 minutes later during the chase, he began accelerating reaching approximately 120 mph and was weaving in and out of traffic.

The suspect then stopped at an overpass less than two minutes at about 8:30 p.m. but as five CHP units pulled behind him, he drove away again.

The driver then hit a highway divider after passing the North Hollywood and Valley Village. The crash incapacitated the right front wheel of the car but the driver continued to drive to an oncoming traffic where it struck two vehicles before finally stopping under an overpass. Shortly after, the driver was arrested.

A Miami family who went for a vacation at Los Angeles was hit head-on during the chase. According to Bryant Valencia, he just remembered swerving away from the oncoming car.

His vehicle rolled over and remembered seeing his son hanging from his car seat upside down while his wife was screaming hysterically.

Five people were all in all injured in the incident—including the driver. They brought to a local hospital for medical attention. No one was seriously injured in the crash. A long list of felony charges will most probably await the suspect.
