HICKSVILLE, N.Y. A vehicular accident claimed one more life today. Police reported that a motorist was killed after crashing against a tractor-trailer that was pulling out of a driveway on Long Island.
The driver was identified as 43-year-old Roger Coiro, a resident of Bethpage. He died after an accident which took place 12:44 in the morning at South Broadway in Hicksville.
According to the police, as a 2012 Freightliner was pulling out onto South Broadway, for unknown reasons, it was struck by Coiro’s 2005 Mercury. The crush was so strong that Coiro was pronounced dead at the scene. However, the operator of the tractor trailer was not injured.
The police are conducting investigation to get more details about the crash.
It was a day for accidents as several hours later, at 4:50 early morning, a car hit a pole along Hicksville Road in Bethpage. The two accidents occurred about three miles apart.
The police did not provide information regarding the driver’s condition as investigation was ongoing.
According to Suffolk County police said a man from Fort Salonga man was killed early Wednesday. The fatal accident happened when his car struck the rear of a tractor trailer that was waiting to negotiate a turn along Route 112 in Coram.
Police identified Albert Pierro, 89 –years-old as the driver of a 2005 Honda north on Route 112. It was around 6:40 early morning when the mishap occurred. Pierro struck the rear of a 2009 Peterbilt that was about to make a left turn into PK Metals at 3542 Route 112.
Pierro was taken to a local hospital where he expired. Continuing investigation will bring to light reasons of the crash.
