SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — It was really a senseless reaction for a passenger to grab the car’s steering wheel and pulled into the officer’s path which caused a police cruiser and car have collided in upstate New York.

Saratoga Springs police reported that the officer was able to avoid a head-on crash by his fast reaction. Only minor damage occurred and at least nobody was hurt. They said that the wreck happened just after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday following an argument in the car.

Authorities identified the passenger as 45-year-old Aurelio Bidinost of Ballston Spa, who is being held and will be charged later in the day.

Saratoga County District Attorney James A. Murphy III said that Bidinost was due to be sentenced next month to 3 years in prison after being convicted in July of assault and vehicular assault for a drunk driving accident that seriously injured another motorist.

Bidinost act of grabbing the car’s steering wheel and pulling into the police officer’s path is a serious offense which will be added to his other conviction.
