Authorities reported of that on Monday afternoon a woman died when her car rear-ended a rig along the slushy roads of No. 80 Interstate in Carbon County.

The accident occurred at around 1:00 o’clock in the afternoon at the east lanes in 1-80 which is about half a mile from Route 115, Kidder Twp. The county coroner was present in the scene/to confirm the fatality.

The state police believed that the woman lost control of her vehicle due to the slippery road so she spun over and hit the rear of the big rig. In order to avoid the car, the tractor tried to steer away but ended rolling on the road side.

The woman was pronounced dead on the scene while the rig driver sustaining injuries was transported to the area hospital. Investigation of the crash is ongoing.

The police closed Interstate 80 east for hours until the scene was clear.
