Hazlet Police are investigating a fatal accident at Route 36 and Munro Avenue (also known as Monroe Avenue), at around midnight. Finally on Monday, the victim of the fatal car accident on Route 36 was finally as Ashley Rodrigues, age 27, of Matawan.

According to Lt. Charles McBride, the 27-year old woman expired at the scene of this single car crash. McBride believed that speed was probably a contributing factor since no other criminal activity was suspected.

Rodrigues was born in Red Bank, had been living in Keansburg for most of her life. The 27-year old woman from Matawan was employed as a massage therapist at Hand & Stone Spa in Aberdeen.

McBride related that Rodrigues was coming from a residence in Hazlet, traveling north on Route 36. Judy Kruse, a bartender at the Hiawatha Inn across the street, said that they learned that there was an accident by all the flashing lights of emergency vehicles outside. Patrons and workers of the inn rushed outside and saw that vehicle, a Mazda, was wedged between the remaining parts of the concrete barrier. It was such a shocking sight.

Kruse said another vehicle traveling southbound which appeared to have been impacted by the crash as the rear of the vehicle was folded like an accordion but the couple walked away from the wreck.

Surviving the fatality are Rodrigues’ family and relatives. They are her mother, Toby Walsh; her father Robert Rodrigues; her sister & brother-in-law, Andrea & George Ciubinski; brother and sister-in-law, Robert & Kerri Rodrigues; brother, Justin Rodrigues & his companion Desirai Kuczynski; her beloved nephew, Justin Rodrigues, Jr.; her grandfather, John A. Rodrigues; her aunts, uncles, cousins and her many friends.

Her remains are in John F. Pfleger Funeral Home at 115 Tindall Road, Middletown.

Visitation hours will be held on Friday, November 23, 2012, from 4 to 8 pm while funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 10 am at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport.
