MIAMI GARDENS –When a car crashed into a Miami Garden Bus Bench on the afternoon of Tuesday, 6 were hospitalized and one of them had perished while two other are still in critical condition.

The accident happened at the intersection of 199th Street and NOW 2nd Avenue.

The victim, 83-year-old Mary Smith, was a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Tavish Olascoaga and her father Juan are having vigil at the hospital where Tavish’s mother, 44-year-old Wendy is currently in critical condition. Wendy is undergoing surgery and the results are still unknown and although the chances might appear slim, their family is still having hope.

Wendy was waiting for a bus along with her friend 48-year-old Delia Tafur when the accident occurred. Tafur had both of her legs amputated in result of the crash.

The suspect, Mark Derefaka, was speeding his Nissan on NOW 199th Street when he crashed into the bus stop.

Good Samaritan civilians helped in freeing one victim who was trapped under the Nissan.

Tavish is praying for her mother’s recovery and she believes that justice will prevail and they will fight their way to achieve that.
Three of the people who sustained critical injuries were brought to Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Two 16-year-old teenage boys had sustained multiple fracture were brought ti Memorial Regional Hospital located in Hollywood where full recovery is expected.

The sister of the suspect had expressed that her heart goes out to the family members of the victims.
The charges against the suspect are still pending.
