San Diego— At least one person is dead and two other people were injured when a wrong-way driver crashed head-on into a minivan carrying a family of a mother and her three children.
The crash happened about 9:00 o’clock in the evening of Sunday on the eastbound way of state Route No. 52 located at the west of Mast Boulevard and east of Santo Road.
According to the report of California Highway Patrol, a Ford sedan was going the wrong way along the freeway when the car collided with the minivan. The man was killed on the scene and the family of four was trapped inside the minivan.
CHP officer said that the passengers sustained injuries: the 40-year-old female sustained critical injuries; the 17-year-old female suffered moderate injuries while the two other children, a boy and a girl – were not injured. The victims were immediately delivered to the area hospital.
The good news is that the mother and her teenage daughter are listed under stable condition and will soon fully recover from their injuries.
The authorities are trying to find out if the driver was driving in the work way due to DUI.
