It is always a cause for sadness when so many young people die or are critically injured in car accidents. It seems such a waste of the good things they could have contributed for the welfare of society.
CHP reported that on the same Monday afternoon, a 17-year-old boy was airlifted by ambulance helicopter to the Medical Center of UC Davis in Sacramento. The young man was hit by a vehicle along Olive Avenue at Lindhurst High School in Olivehurst.
According to Officer Duane Nokes of the California Highway Patrol, the boy was riding a child’s motorized scooter and was going south along the shoulder of the road. Unable to control the scooter, he swerved into the lane and was struck a vehicle operated by driver identified as Jong Thao, age 50, resident of Marysville.
The accident took place at about 3:44 o’clock in the afternoon. Nokes stated that the young man was not wearing a helmet. The victim, suffering non-life threatening injury, was transported to a local hospital.
