Yarmouth police and firefighters responded to a single-vehicle crash on Route 6A near Weir Road in Yarmouth Port early Saturday morning at around 2:14 a.m. When theYarmouth police and firefighters arrived at the single-vehicle crash on Route 6A near Weir Road in Yarmouth Port, they found a 2010 Kia SE Forte on its side in the woods along the roadway. According to a Yarmouth police release the driver who was the sole occupant of the car, was trapped inside.
Police identified the driver as 23-year-old John Ewing who resided in South Dennis. He was removed from the car and transported to Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis. He was later taken to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston where he is reportedly in serious but stable condition.
Due to the accident, police closed a portion of Route 6A and traffic was detoured as police investigated the scene. The cause of the crash is still under investigation. On the same day, a South Dennis man was delivered to a Boston hospital following a one-car crash early this morning on Route 6A, according to police report.
The crash occurred at 2:14 o’clock in the morning where rescuers and police officers found a white 2010 Kia SE Forte on its side in the woods south of Route 6A, near Weir Road. A man identified as Robert John Ewing, age 23, was trapped inside the car.
Rescuers were able to extract Ewing from the car and took him to Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis. Ewing was the only person in the car, the police said.
The crash investigation is being handled by an officer from the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department and a patrolman from the Yarmouth police department.
According to Yarmouth Deputy Police Chief Steven Xiarhos, as of around 11:30 a.m. today, the medical staff confirmed that Ewing was in serious but stable condition at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
