CENTER CITY – City Police were able to identify the victim of a hit-and-run crash early morning of Tuesday which happened in the Center City of Philadelphia.
The fatality was identified as 52 year’s old Sandra Lee resident of 37th North Street – 700 block. She was the victim of the Bridge of Spring Garden Street accident which occurred at off ramp I-76.
She was riding a Nissan which was being operated by her husband, 56-year-old Alonzo Lee.
Lee’s cousin, Dennis Hunter said that he was shocked when he heard of the mishap as his cousin was a very orderly and pleasant person. Every day, she reported for work, come home and never bothered anybody.
According to the police, the Lee couple was traveling on ramp off I-76 eastbound when the Nissan was struck by an oncoming vehicle. The impact forced the Nissan to go up on a curb and flipped sideward.
The operator of the erring vehicle was a man of around 30years who alighted from his vehicle and fled on foot. The police later apprehended him at corner of Lancaster and 35th.
Police are making their investigation and did not give the identity of the suspect. Investigators said aside from charges as hit-and-run driver, he is facing serious charges including Homicide by Vehicle and DUI.
The husband of the victim also suffered injuries and was delivered to the local hospital. Medical authority stated that he sustained non-life threatening injuries.
The accident caused one fatality and one injured which led to the arrest of the hit-and-run driver.
