Actor who starred in the film “This is Spinal Tap” and TV’s “Laverne and Shirley”, Michael McKean, was hit by a car on upper West Side and is currently on recovery on the night of Tuesday in a Manhattan hospital, according to the police.
Michael McKean, 64 years old, who plays as Lenny on the hit television show, had a gashing wound at his head when a car had hit him at W. 86th St. and Broadway minutes before 3 in the afternoon, as witnesses and FDNY had said.
The victim, actor Michael McKean, was brought first to St. Luke’s Hospital in serious condition, according to fire officials. His health had improved from serious to a stable condition at the hospital and where the doctor’s had found out that he suffered a broken leg, as stated by his publicist Harriet Sternberg. Sternberg added that McKean is okay and hopefully be fine by then. McKean’s wife, actress Annette O’Toole, had flown all the way from Los Angeles—where they also own a home—to be at her husband’s side had said that the accident was pretty devastating, according to Sternberg.
Criminal involvement was not suspected in the accident, the police had said. Two other people were injured in the incident and were brought to the same hospital although the extent of the injuries remains unknown, according to officials.
Sternberg has said that McKean will not be able to attend and perform his latest Broadway stint as “Dick Jensen” in Gore Vidal’s “The Best Man” at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theater on W. 45th St.
Sternberg added that this will be the very first time that McKean will miss a curtain in his entire life because he never misses any and that McKean’s understudy had never gone on in 40-plus years.
