On Wednesday afternoon, two vehicles collided leaving a boy dead and another motorist injured. The two-vehicle wreck took place at the corner of Rancho Road and Ostrom Road in Marysville.
According to CHP, the operator of a Nissan 2003 Sentra was identified as 19-year-old Jessie Campos resident of Plumas Lake. At about 4:45 o’clock in the afternoon, he was traveling eastbound when he was unable to yield at traffic sign and crashed with a Honda 1988 Civic operated by driven by Ronald Berry, age 47 from Olivehurst.
Berry had an unidentified 4-year-old male passenger who was delivered to the Regional Medical Center Rideout where child later died from his injuries. Berry was treated for sustained minor injuries.
Nissan driver, Campos and his passenger, 18-year-old Vanessa Franken resident of Plumas Lake, were not hurt.
The officers are investigating the case and will file charges against the person responsible for the crash. They are also trying to find the cause of the accident.
