Troop D of the Louisiana State Police reported that last Friday, a crash in Calcasieu critically injured a passenger without a seat belt which led to an arrest. NOLA is very strict when it comes to the Law on Seat Belts and restrained seats.
At about 11:33 o’clock in the morning of Friday, a call was made to the police regarding a one-vehicle accident at La.3059 which is a mile from US 171.
After conducting the preliminary investigation, troopers learned that a Mitsubishi 2007 was going westward along La. 3059. For unknown reasons, the driver, identified as Lindsay Anderson, 29 years old and resident of Jennings, lost control of the vehicle as it was rounding a curve that propelled the Mitsubishi to crash into te driveway, was airborne before landing on a ditch.
Troopers said that the driver was not using a seatbelt and was delivered to the hospital sustaining minor injuries. The passenger inside the vehicle, identified as Lexy Shaylynn Fontenot, age 18, from Lake Charles was not wearing seat belt. She suffered minor injuries and was delivered to a local hospital.
Anderson was slapped with the following charges: DWI, negligent injuring through a vehicle, careless driving and non-wearing of seatbelt. She was placed in the Correctional Center of Calcasieu Parish.
As usual, toxicology sample were taken to be tested for present of alcohol and other substance. Investigation is on-going.
