OAKFIELD, NEW YORK – A single car accident that took the life of the driver is still under the investigation of the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office.
The accident had happened at about 7:19 in the evening of Thursday, investigators say. The victim was identified to be Stephen Ferry, 21 years of age, from South Alabama. Ferry was heading west on Lockport Road when he had lost the control of his car—a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix. His car had gone off the road sideways and then hit a large tree.
Ferry was proclaimed dead at the scene of accident by the Genesee County Coroner. Ferry had a passenger on his car—19 year old Jonathan Coombs who came from Oakfield. Jonathan Coombs seemed to be ejected from the vehicle during the car accident. Coombs had sustained injuries that were life-threatening and was transported by Mercy Flight to Erie County Medical Center.
Further investigation with regards to the accident is still ongoing.
