Delaware State Police reporter that after a vehicle overturned in Greenwood, the trucker who was transporting liquid fertilizer was dead.
The fatal accident took place at around 9:00 o’clock in the morning of Thursday along the Nine Foot Rd. Troopers learned that the operator of the 10-wheel rig was going westward when the right vehicle of the truck swerved towards the pavement.
Officers said that the truck flipped and turned onto its right side that ejected the through the windshield and landed onto the road.
Due to critical injuries, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers did release his name in public pending notification of nearest kin.
After the wreck, the crews spent much time cleaning up the leaking fertilizer and diesel fuel that was immediately monitored by state environmental officials.
Del State Police stated that a truck hauling liquid fertilizer was wrecked after it flipped in Greenwood and killing its driver.
It mishap took place at around 9:00 o’clock Thursday morning along the Nine Foot Rd. Troopers learned that the truck driver was going westbound when its right tires swerved off the pavement.
Witnesses told officers that the truck went around and landed onto its right side. The driver was ejected thru the windshield and alighted onto the road.
Due to severe injuries, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver’s identity will be made public after notification of nearest kin.
Environmental state officials monitored the cleanup of the leaking fertilizer and diesel fuel.
After his family was informed, Del police finally identified the truck driver killed when his vehicle overturned in Greenwood.
The fatality was John C. Winter Jr. age 59 resident of Milford who died at the scene after the crash of Thursday.
Troopers said that operator was behind the wheel of his 10-wheel rig traveling west along Nine Foot Rd. when the right tires of the vehicle drove off the pavement.
Officers learned that the truck overturned and landed onto its right side while the driver was thrown out through the windshield and landed on the road.
The victim was identified as John C. Winter, Jr., of Milford.
The mishap happened at around 9:00 o’clock Thursday morning along Nine Foot Road near Hickman Rd. or State Rte. 16. Troopers said that Winter was going westbound when the right tires of his truck drove off the pavement.
Witnesses said that the truck rotated and landed onto its right side. Police stated that driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected passing through the windshield and alighted onto the road. He died at the scene.
Due to the wreck, Nine Foot Rd. was closed for about four hours while the crash was being investigated and emergency crews cleared and clean-up the way that was monitored by DNREC due to leaking fertilizer and diesel fuel.
