WARREN TWP – All lanes of traffic in Warren Twp was closed due to a mishap near County Road 651. According to NJ State Police, an accident on Route 78 West, near County Road 651, in Warren Township, closed down all lanes of traffic.
The victim was a woman operator who was not able to control her vehicle from swerving off into the woods. A woman was transported from the scene of the crash by helicopter ambulance to a city hospital.
Sgt. Adam Grossman of the New Jersey State Police said that due to the two-car motor vehicle crash, all lanes of Route 78 West, east of Exit 36, in Warren Township was shut down starting 10:15 o’clock that evening. It caused great inconvenience to the motorists who were traveling along the lanes of Route 78 West, east of Exit 36.in Warren Township.
After her vehicle got out of control and veered off into the woods about 30 feet, near mile marker 38.2 on Route 78 West. The woman was trapped in her vehicle. Her car swerved off and was propelled into the woods about 30 feet, near mile marker 38.2 on Route 78 West, Grossman said. After being extricated from the vehicle, she was immediately taken to Morristown Medical Center.
The driver of the other vehicle, whose identity was not given to media, was male and he also sustained injuries. Complaining of a broken arm, he was also transported to Morristown Medical Center, Grossman said.
Investigators did not state if the accident was alcohol-related or whether the victims were wearing seat belts. At about 11:15 p.m., the right lane of Route 78 West was still closed.
