Early Saturday, State Police said in a news release that a Port Allen pedestrian was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver that morning.

Trooper First Class Jared L. Sandifer said in a news release that the fatality was Denisce M. McCurley, 48 years who was struck from behind by a vehicle while she was walking partially on the pavement of La. 76 east near La. 415 in West Baton Rouge Parish.
Troopers were able to determine that the car involved in the incident was possibly a Ford E-150 or E-250 Van or box type vehicle that is now with front-end damage, possibly in the headlight area.

Troopers were not able to ascertain if McCurley from Port Allen had been drinking before she was hit. Her condition will be substantiated as they have already submitted a toxicology sample taken from McCurley to the State Police Crime Lab for analysis, the release stated.

Troopers are requesting witnesses to contact Louisiana State Police Troop A at (225) 754-8500, or their local law enforcement agency, if they can help locate the suspect vehicle or any related information.

Meanwhile, on December 02, 2012, there were several vehicles that struck and killed a naked man at 8:15 evening of Friday after he had lain down in the middle of busy Burbank Drive in East Baton Rouge Parish, State Police reported.

Trooper First Class Jared Sandifer identified the man as 18-year-old Lawrence J. Kelson resident of Baton Rouge. Witnesses said that he had been fighting and attacking patrons inside a Cracker Barrel convenience store at 9958 Burbank Drive, near the street’s intersection with Elvin Drive.

When Kelson left the store, he attempted to steal a car in the parking lot but couldn’t get it started.

Sandifer said that Kelson then ran into the street and lay down on the pavement just in front of oncoming traffic. Three vehicles hit Kelson, causing fatal injuries, Troopers are trying to determine if Kelson was intoxicated, but they have submitted a toxicology sample to the State Police Crime Lab, he said.
