Another vehicular mishap occurred at interchange 15W at 9:34 p.m. Wednesday which critically injured the victim. Authorities reported that the accident was instigated when the 47-year-old Kearny man lost control of his vehicle. Witnesses said that the operator’s vehicle hit the left guardrail while exiting the ramp, then it struck the right guardrail, as it continued moving on before finally coming to a stop.

The Kearny Fire Department arrived on the scene shortly after the accident and had to remove the victim from his vehicle. Once freed from the vehicle, the injured was immediately transported to the University Hospital in Newark.

Hospital officials gave the information that the man is in critical condition sustaining serious head and lower-arm injuries.

The day before, West Milford served as the setting for another accident. A driver who allegedly was high on heroin was responsible for a three-vehicle accident in northern New Jersey. He is charged with vehicular homicide after a woman died from injuries suffered in the crash.

Authorities reported that the 21-year-old driver, identified as Sonny Gorzala resident of Oak Ridge suffered minor injuries in the crash. Gorzala was already facing numerous charges stemming from the accident last November 11. He remained jailed Thursday on $250,000 cash bail, and it’s not known if he has retained a lawyer.

Then a new charge is added after his 58-year-old Rosemary Puig died Wednesday night.
Authorities said the crash occurred when Gorzala’s car crossed the center line and hit another car before crashing head-on into Puig’s vehicle. The West Milford woman suffered broken legs and arms, a broken hip and a spinal cord injury.
