Two people were fatally injured in the Glassell Park area after being hit by a drunk driver.

This dreaded incident happened at about 7:30 p.m. Friday on San Fernando Road near the 2 Freeway, and left the lives of two young girls in a horrendous situation, swinging on the verge of life and death,

According to the police officials, the two girls were hit by a drunk driver in a minivan just when they were crossing the street with their grandmother.

The driver is reported to be an old man of 64.

Furthermore, it has come to light that the younger of the two girls, a mere 6-year old had to undergo a brain surgery, whereas her older sibling, 14, is in a much stable condition but still her situation is critical.

An eye witness, Dan Zito said that the girls just went flying, and didn’t move at all after being hit.

Police also confirmed that the grandmother had not been injured seriously. And at the same time the driver was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving under influence of liquor; though his name had not been released immediately.

But no other passersby were injured, that being a moment of relief.
