State Police reported that a 70-year-old man was ejected from the passenger-side window of his vehicle in a collision at the intersection of Shoemaker Lane and Clarks Pond Road on Friday evening. Due to the impact of the crash, the senior was hurled from the side window of the passenger seat.

The victim was driving his GMC Sierra going north on Clarks Pond Road. As he was approaching the intersection of Shoemaker Lane, an 18-year-old woman driving a Hyundai Genesis westbound on Shoemaker hit the car, according to police at the Bridgeton Station.

The man complained of neck pain and was immediately airlifted by helicopter ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Delaware.

The woman driver complained of leg pain and was also airlifted to Cooper University Hospital in Camden.

No names were released to the media as police continued their investigation. They have to determine the charges to be filed against the guilty party. They did not say whether both drivers were using safe belts.

According to city police, two days ago on Wednesday night in Vineland, a pedestrian was struck and killed on Delsea Drive near Sherman Avenue.

Megan M. Exel, 28 years old from Centerton Road, Upper Deerfield Township, told police that she was traveling north on Delsea around 8 p.m. when she said she struck an object.

After she stopped her 1999 Plymouth Neon, Exel went down and discovered that she has struck a man. The pedestrian was identified by police as Richard Whilden, age 42, with unknown address. The impact was immense that the pedestrian died on the scene.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the case. No charges have been filed.
