A 52 year old man, who was previously unidentified, that fell from his bicycle and got run over by car and had sustained critical injuries was now identified by Suffolk County cops on Tuesday.
The victim, John Harris, whose last address remain unknown, is receiving medical attention at Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for suffering several fractures in the face, broken ribs and a punctured lung. His condition remains critical as of this moment.
Cops did not release Harris’ identity until his relatives had been informed.
A 1991 Toyota driven by 39 year old Jacqueline Martinez was traveling southbound when she had hit Harris at American Blvd at around 7:30 in the evening of Friday after which, Harris was moaning in pain, while lying motionless on the road.
Harris was run over by Martinez despite the attempts of two men to get the attention of Martinez. Martinez swerved slightly to avoid the men but had hit Harris instead who was lying on the ground after he fell on his bicycle.
The two men, Hans Georges and another driver, had attempted to protect Harris from passing vehicles. It was not revealed by the police whether Harris fell from his bicycle after another car had hit him.
Jacqueline Martinez had stayed on the scene and was not filed with charges, according to the cops. For safety checks, her vehicle was impounded.
