POMPANO BEACH – The deputy from Broward County Sheriff who was brought to the hospital after his motorcycle crashed into a car has perished.
\the victim, 47-year-old Christopher Schaub, was traveling with hi BSO motorcycle at around 2:23 in the afternoon while on patrol near the intersection of West McNab Road and North Andrews Avenue in Pompano Beach when he crashed into a Mercedes-Benz. The driver of the Mercedes was not seriously hurt in the accident.
The police officer was flown to Broward Health Medical Center in a critical condition.
He later on succumbed to his injuries on late Wednesday.
His family spent the evening at hospital praying that he will survive the ordeal but unfortunately, he did not.
Broward Sheriff Al Lamberti had said that Schaub fought for his survival valiantly until he died shortly before 7 in the evening.
Schaub was a member to a fraternity of motorcycle officers who were a very close knit group.
Schaub’s son, Tim, also works with his father in Pompano Beach district.
Lamberti said that it will be a hard time for BSO as they lay a close friend of theirs. And it will also be a sad day to Schaub’s family.
Following the crash, all directions of traffic were closed and investigation is still on the way.
Schaub’s funeral arrangement is yet to be announced.
