TORONTO – One person’s life was claimed after a tragic crash early morning of Tuesday.
The victim, 24-year-old David Chiang, was a passenger in the 2007 Land Rover that smashed into a pole and split in half at Mount Pleasant Road and Eglinton Avenue area. Just after 2:30 in the morning, the police were dispatched to the area.
The driver of the vehicle, 19-year-old Oliver Karafa, walked away from the wreckage unharmed. The driver was allegedly impaired and driving in high speed during the accident which caused claimed the life of his friend.
The driver, Karafa, faces several criminal charges such as criminal negligence causing death, impaired driving causing death, and dangerous driving causing death following an appearance in court.
KArafa resides just two and a half kilometers away from the accident area at Merton Street.
Chiang worked as a personal trainer at Extreme Fitness Delisle and Karafa had been his client.
Company-workers and friends of Chiang were extremely shocked upon hearing the passing of this friendly lad. They described him to be an upbeat, professional and focused individual who loved to watch NFL and mountain biking.
