Georgia State Patrol Officers were kept busy on Interstate 20 in Green County after two separate fatal accidents.

Calverence Roshard Lee, 29, of Wrens, Ga, was killed in a car crash on Interstate 20 around 3 miles west of the the Lake Oconee Parkway exit at around 11:25 a.m. Saturday, according to a Georgia State Patrol spokesperson.

Investigators said Lee was a passenger in a Honda Accord travelling eastbound. The driver lost control of the car on the slick roadway and crossed over to the center media and into on-coming traffic. A tractor-trailer failed to stop in time and sliced the car into two pieces on the driver’s side. Lee and the driver Coranda Nicole Peeples, 26, of Morrow, were ejected from the car as a result of the crash.

Peeples was taken to Athens Regional due to severe injuries sustained.

Another fatal accident occurred at around 2 am near Oconee Parkway just a few miles from the initial accident. In this incident 1 person was killed and 4 injured according to Troopers.

A tractor- trailer hauling cars could not stop in time on Interstate 20 for the stopped traffic resulting from the first crash. It ended up slamming into a a Ford Crown Victoria twice, spinning the car into the back of another tractor-trailer.

Passenger Annaleah Karth, 17, of Rocky Mount, N.C was killed in the second crash. The driver and two other passengers were injured and taken to a hospital. The tractor- trailer’s driver was also injured and hospitalized.

Both crashes are currently undergoing investigations. Charges are still pending.
