NOPD spokesperson, Garry Flot reported that a two-vehicle accident involved a car and a school bus during the Monday evening traffic that brought eight high school students to the hospital. The mishap occurred in the 9th Ward at almost 6:20 o’clock early evening.

The KIPP Renaissance High School bus stopped for a red light at the corner of Manzant and North Robertson Streets.

Flot said that while the bus was waiting for the green light, it was rear-ended by a vehicle operated by Ammer Gader, age 39.

Eight students, between ages 17 to 19, were on board and they started complaining of neck and back pain. They were all delivered to the hospital for a check-up. The unidentified school bus driver was not injured.

Gader was given a citation for following the school bus too closely.
