Chinatown — Early Wednesday morning, an elderly was struck by a car while she was crossing a street in Chinatown, as reported by the police.
The female victim who appeared to be in her 60s, was about to cross Bowery in the area of Bayard Street when a Honda Odyssey from the east struck her at about 6:30 o’clock that morning.
The unidentified woman was rushed to Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center of New York where medical staff said she is expected to recover from her injuries, police said.
Police reported that the driver of the Honda stayed on the scene and cooperated with the police, Police said that there was no criminality involved.
This incident comes a day after another elderly woman was killed by a hit-and-run driver near the Theater District.
It will be recalled that fatal victim Shu Ying Liu, age 68, was hit by a dump truck while crossing West 41st Street. The truck was turning off Ninth Avenue and hit her and afterwards sped off. Liu died at the hospital while the driver was arrested soon after.
