LA HABRA, Calif. — A tragic vehicular crash at the corner of Walnut Street and Lomas Drive in La Habra on Sunday claimed the lives of four people.
Just after 1 in the morning, the incident happened. According to Fire officials, a pick-up truck was heading northbound up Walnut Street when the truck driver lost control if the vehicle and ended up slamming into a tree.
A total of six occupants were inside the truck. Three men and a woman perished on the scene. The contributory factors that played a factor in the crash were alcohol and speed, said the officials.
The following were the deceased victims in the crash: ‘Killed in the crash were:
David Huizar Jr., 22, of La Habra
Jimmy Alonzo Gonzales, 22, of Buena Park
Paul Romero, 25, of Fullerton
Delora Bravo, 22, of La Habra
Two other occupants were brought to area trauma centers for sustaining critical injuries. The two were 25-year-old Destiney Mendoza and 21-year-old Rochelle Romero, both from La Habra.
The scene was described by witnesses as horrific. Witness Adriana Castillo said that there was a man hanging out the door trying to move but it turned out it was his last breaths.
A memorial of flowers and candles were left at the scene by family members and friends of the victims. A memorial fund was set up at Wells Fargo Bank.
