Two lives were lost on separate vehicular accidents in Missouri. The people involved in the incidents were not wearing any seat belts.
On the first incident, an 18-year-old driver, Amy Bruenger, was killed after she failed to negotiate a curve and hit a guardrail as she was traveling northbound on 141. The following events made her vehicle veer off the road and resulted in the overturning of her vehicle which ejected her from the vehicle. She had not been wearing any seat belt when the incident happened. She was taken to St. Anthony’s Hospital where she was declared dead.
A passenger in her car, Gregory Wisely, 16, of Fenton, MONTH, who was also did not have a seat belt on, sustained moderate injuries and received medical attention at the hospital.
On the second incident, 29-year-old Stephanie A. Hochstatter, from Mineral Point, MONTH, died after her vehicle struck an embankment, overturn her vehicle and was also ejected. She was also not wearing any seatbelt. She was traveling Route U shortly after midnight of Saturday when she veered a little off on the right side and overcorrected herself.
Hochstatter was declared dead at Washington County Memorial Hospital.
