A collision on Friday afternoon brought three people to the hospital. According to Howard County Police three people, including one student, were taken to a local hospital after a collision took place involving a Montgomery County school bus and a car on Route 97 in Howard County.
A Montgomery School bus and a car collided which sent at least three injured to the hospital.
The driver of the school bus and the driver of the car both sustained minor injuries. They were transported the MedStar Montgomery Medical Center, in Olney. A 16-year –old student was not injured but she was also transported to the hospital for check-up.
Police spokeswoman Sherry Llewellyn reported that at approximately 1:40 p.m. a Toyota Corolla traveling southbound on Route 97 strike the school bus, which was traveling northbound, when the driver was negotiating a left turn.
Llewellyn said that due to the contact, the bus to flip on its side. Llewellyn was not yet able to give the specific area where the accident occurred but said it was somewhere on Route 97 but said that the road will be reopened shortly.
Llewellyn said the student in the bus was on her way from home in Montgomery County to a special needs school in Baltimore.
Police said that the driver of the of the bus was wearing a seat belt but they will still investigate it others involved in the incident were also wearing safety belts. Police are still looking to determine if the others involved were wearing seat belts, Llewellyn said.
Pending result of investigation, the Police will be filing charges against those who are responsible for the crash.
