Bakersfield –Two tractors collided and caught fire last Friday evening, killing one truck driver and critically injuring the other. The fatal crash happened along South Edison Road at around 5:00 o’clock in the  afternoon.

Authorities identified one of the drivers as Andrew John Mateut, age 27. He was following another tractor trailer but for unknown reasons, he hit the left side of another tractor trailer that was trying to turn. As both big trucks crashed, it burst into flame. Mateut, who was unable to escape from the burning wreckage, was badly burn. He was immediately taken to a local hospital for treatment. The other driver was a 73-year-old man who died at the scene.

The law enforcement of Bakersfield California does not release of the identity of fatalities pending notification of nearest kin. Investigation is ongoing.
