West Mifflin –At least one person died after a mishap last Tuesday night in West Mifflin.  The tragedy took place It happened at about 6:30 o’clock Tuesday night along the road in Camp Hollow. Six people sustaining injuries were transported to area hospitals.

Due to the accident, traffic at Camp Hollow Road was shut for several hours, but after prelim investigation and clearing the area, the road was reopened.

One person was confirmed dead and half-a dozen were hurt and treated in hospitals.

Tuesday night, two SUVs collided head-on in West Mifflin. It happened when one of the vehicles veered over the median before 7:00 that evening along New England Road, that was a two-lane narrow street located about half-mile north of Rte. 837.

Investigators identified the lone fatality as Treina Ramsey, age 54, and resident of West Mifflin. An SOP autopsy for accident death was scheduled for Wednesday.

Responders picked a child’s seat ejected from the SUV that appeared in the wrong place but they did not elaborate how badly the child was hurt.

Larry Dworek, a truck driver who came to the scene right after the crash, said that the curve on New England Road dangerous. It is hazardous as the speed limit is 35 mph but vehicles are driven with a 55 to 60 MPH speed. The traffic has to remedy the situation by controlling the speed on the road.

The police of Allegheny County are on top of the investigation handling the death of one West Mifflin and around half-a-dozen people injured in a two-vehicle crash in West Mifflin on Tuesday night.

Accounted fatality was 54-years-old Treina Ramsey who was pronounced dead at about 7:18 o’clock that night at the Jefferson Regional Medical Center. She was rushed to the hospital after the crash sustaining critical injuries. An officer from the Allegheny County medical examiner’s office reported that the victim died less than an hour after admission. Other persons injured were taken to the other area hospitals.

Reported at about around 6:30 o’clock, the accident occurred on Block 1500 at the New England Rd. between Camp Hollow Rd. and Rte. 837. One person was trapped in the vehicle but later rescued and taken to a hospital.

No other information was released to the media.

Treina Ramsey was rushed to the hospital suffering life-threatening injuries, about an hour after admission at Jefferson Hospital, she died.

Half a dozen people were injured and were distributed to the following hospitals: (1) Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh; (2) Jefferson Hospital; (3) UPMC Mercy; and (4) UPMC Presbyterian.

Authorities believed that the wet road condition at the time of the accident was one of its major factors. The road of the crash scene was blocked off for several hours to avoid a traffic jam.
