HALL COUNTY, Ga. – Early on Tuesday morning, saw an operator who was driving his vehicle on the wrong-way in Hall County. He died and resulted to the injuries of four others following a wreck.
The Georgia State Patrol reported that the accident involved four vehicles which happened at Interstate 985 near Jesse Jewel Parkway at around 6:40 o’clock early morning.
The driver was identified as 80-year-old Raymond Sanford Reed who was driving a Buick LeSabre along the interstate from Exit 24. He was driving south and as he entered the northbound lanes, he collided head-on with a Ford F-150. The Ford was driven by 54-year-old Cresencio Martinez-Trejo. Trejo’s Ford F-150 was then hit from the rear by a Honda Civic driven by 32-year-old Keisha Wheeler.
Investigators reported that a tractor-trailer truck who was trying to avoid the crash also sideswiped Reed’s LeSabre.
Troopers stated that Reed was killed in the scene. Trejo and Wheeler, along with two children inside the Honda, were immediately transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center where they were treated for non-critical injuries and soon released. The tractor-trailer driver sustained no injuries.
The day before, a pedestrian died after an accident on Highway 25 South that Monday morning.
Jenkins County Coroner Henry Young reported that a 60-year-old man, identified as David Lawrence died at the scene from multiple blunt force traumas.
The Georgia State Patrol learned that Lawrence tried to cross the highway at 5:55 a.m., when for unknown reason, he stepped into the path of a Nissan Altima.
Investigators said that the driver of the Altima will not be charged for the accident.
