A wrong-way driver does not know the proper direction that has led to many car mishaps. One person died and three others were injured and now in critical condition due to a series of crashes that started when a driver who was going the wrong way collided with another vehicle early Friday morning alone the westbound Freeway 10 in Santa Monica.
According to the investigators, the errant driver, later known to be 23 years, went inside the westbound Freeway 10 which was a wrong direction at the Centinela Ave. at around 1:00 o’clock in the morning. The operator of the red GTO Pontiac crashed with another vehicle and swerved into the opposite side of the freeway and fell down into a hill, stated in the report of CHP.
The driver was trapped inside so the emergency crews cut through the roof of the car to free him out.
According to the CHP, there were four people in the Ford that the errant driver hit. As they were going out of the Ford; the operator of a Hyundai going to the west lanes hit the Ford and burst into flames.
One of the passengers inside the Ford was pronounced dead at the scene. Three passengers were transported to the area hospital in critical condition.
No other information regarding the identities and age of the victims were released to the public.
The police took in custody the 42-year-old driver of the Hyundai and the Pontiac driver on suspicion of DUI.
During the investigation, police closed the westbound Freeway 10 near Bundy Drive.
After the mishap, the parties involved in the collision were required to pull over to the side of the road to exchange information and inspect the damage. Unfortunately, people standing on the shoulder of the road were very good target for reckless drivers are likely victims of a second accident.

After the driver of the Hyundai collided into the Ford, it burst into flames after the driver The Hyundai was following the right direction as they were traveling 10 Freeway. As the vehicle burst into the flame, the four occupants trying to get out of the Ford Three of them are in critical condition and one of them was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
