UPPER SOUTHAMPTON, Pa. – At least two people were reported as injured in PA Turnpike accident last Tuesday.
It was just 30 minutes before 5 o’clock in the morning at PA westbound Turnpike near Buck County’s Road of Gravel Hill that the crash occurred. Two vehicles were collided: a car against a tractor-trailer. Strong impact of the crash led one person to be pin in one of the vehicles. It took some time for the emergency crew to extricate him.
So a car crashed with a tractor-trailer resulting to the injury of the persons inside the vehicles. Two victims were delivered to Abington Hospital suffering from unknown injuries.
Authorities did not give any information of the i\victims’ identities, their residences, the condition and extent of the injuries.
The area was cluttered with debris which had to be cleared before traffic was resumed. As of 8 o’clock in the morning, all turnpike lanes were reopened.
The major causes of car accidents and collisions: incompetent drivers who lack the proper training on road safety; driving DUI or driving under drugs as they impair driving capabilities; distractions while driving such as talking with passengers, using the mobile, loud stereos and others; bad weather making road slippery and causing poor visibility; rod ways not well designed and safe for public use and vehicle defects which occur when motorists are careless in checking up condition of their vehicle.
These safety measures are not difficult but all within the capability of the driver. Driving is a serious enterprise and must not be taken for granted.
